Early morning taking breakfast, excursion to Taktsang Monastery .Avery special day, with an excursion to view the Taktsang (Tiger nest ) holy Monastery. Short drive takes us to Satsam chorten , from here a 1and half hour walk till the viewpoint of the monastery. The trail climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of the trees festooned with Spanish moss and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. We stop for a rest and light refreshment at the Taktsang Jakhang and then walk a short distance until we see clear and seeming with in reach, Taktsang monastery .The primary Lhakhang was built around Goru Rimpoche’s meditation cave in the 1684 by the Penlop of Paro Gyaltse Tenzin Rabgay, this incredible monastery clings to the edge of a sheer rock cliff that plunges 900 meters into the valley below, Legend has it that Guru Padmasabhava the tantric mystic who brought Buddhism to Bhutan, flew here on the back of a flying tiger ,Dorji Drolo said to be his favorite consort.
After early morning taking breakfast drive to Punakha via Dachula passs, where you can see 108 Bhutanese Stupas. If the weather is clear you can see all Himalayas Ranges wit all snow covered .Further drive to Punakha and visit Punakha Dzong. The Dzong is situated between the two rivers and it is one of the biggest rivers in Bhutan. We have walk through the suspension bridge to reach the Dzong. The Dzong was built in 1637 by Shabdrung Nwawang Namgyal and is situated between Pho Chu (Male river) and Ma chu (Female river). For many years until the time of the second king , it served as the seat of the government . The construction of the Dzong was foretold by Guru Rimpochhe , who predicted …. As a person named Namgyal will arrive at a hill that looks like an elephant . There was a smaller building here called Dzong Chu that housed a statue of Buddha. It is said that Shabdrung ordered the architect, Zowe Palep, to sleep in front of the statue, while Palep was sleeping, the Shabdrung took him his dreams to Zangtopelri and showed him the palace of Guru Rimpochhe , from his vision , the architect conceived the design for the new Dzong ,which is with the keeping tradition., was never committed to paper. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). The war materials captured during the battle with Tibetans are preserved here. Punakha is still the winter residence of JE-KHENPO and king Jigme Dorje Wangchock convened the new national Assembly here in 1952.In the evening short hike to Chimi Lakhang , which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley In the 15 century .(This monk is popularly known as the Devine madman for his Philosophy,” Salvation through sex”). He subdued the demons with his “ Magical Thunder bolt”. The temple is also known as The temple of Fertility”. Sterile women from far and wide come to this Temple to get blessed and an article about this temple also appeared in Newspaper ,The Washington Post some years back. Dinner and overnight in Punakha.
After early morning taking breakfast , drive to Trongsa. Enroute in the valley of Wangdiphodrang includes ,visit to Wangdiphodrang Dzong built in 1638. Legend relates that as the people were searching for the site the Dzong, four ravens were seen flying away in four directions . This was considered auspicious sign, representing the spread of Religion to the four points of the compass. The Dzong is situated at the confluence of Mo chu and Tang Chu river. Drive further and cross over Pelela Pass at 3250m.Visit the Chendebji Monastery . This monastery is patterned after Swayambhunath in Kathmandu and was built in the 19th century by Lama Shida from Tibet to cover the remains of an evil spirit that was killed at this spot. Dinner and overnight in Trongsa.
After early breakfast drive to Bumthang via Yongtala pass and Kilakha pass. Bhumthang sightseeing including, Bhutanese Textiles, visit Chamkhar valley , Jakar Dzong , which literallymeans “ The castle of white Bird.”The current structure was built in 1967 and then visit Lamey Goamba , a large palace and monastery built in 18th century by Dasho Phuntsho Wangdi. Visit Jambay Lhakhang built by King Srongsen Gampo of Tibet in the years 659 on the same day as Kichu Lhakhang in Paro. The temple was visited by Guru Rimpochhe during his visit to Bumthang and was renovated by Sindhu Raja after Guru Rimpochhe restored his life force. Under the temple is said to be a lake in which Guru Rimpochhe hid several Terma. In October one of the most spectacular festival”,Jambay Lhakhang Drup” is staged here . After early breakfast , visit Chakhar (Iron Castle)Lhakhang , it is the site of the palace of the Indian King, the Sindu Raja who invited Guru Rimpochee to Bumthang . The original palace was made of Iron and hence the name Chakhar. The saint Dorji Lingpa built the Current building in 14th century. Its correct name is Dechan Phodrang , we than Kurjey Lhakhang that is named after body print of Guru Rimpochee , built in 1652 by Minjur Tempa. Visit Tamshing Lhakhang (Temple of the good message), established in 1501 by Pema Lingpa and is the most important Nyingmapa Temple in the kingdom. In the evening , visit Membarstho which literally means,”the burning lake.” Dinner and overnight in Hotel
After early morning taking breakfast Drive to Gantey valley . It is one of the most beautiful glacial valleys of the Himalayas .Visit Gantey Gomba from outside.Gyaltse Pema Thinley, the grand son and mind reincarnation of Pema Lingpa founded the timple in 1613 and Tinzin Lepai Dhendup, the second re-incarnation,built the temple .The present Abbot ,Kunzang Pema Namgyal is the ninth re-incarnation It is Nyingmapa monastery and is affiliated to other Nyingmapa monasteries including Tamshing is Bumthang. Explore Phobjikha valley, famous for the Black Necked Cranes during winter .These cranes are very rare and endangered and highly protected by the government. These cranes fly to Phobjikha valley which is their winter Habitat. The Cranes circle three times in a clock-wise direction around the Gangtey Gompa as a reverence to the monastery before landing in the Valley They repeat the same practice before flying back to Tibet inearly Spring. You can watch the cranes. Enroute we will stop in different places for the Photography and have the view of different valleys. Dinner at hotel and overnight at hotel.
